Sky Sports announces GAA coverage team

Sky sports unveiled its GAA coverage team this morning, with Irish woman Rachel Wyse and former rugby player Brian Carney front and centre as presenters.

The team will also include Dave McIntyre and Mike Finnerty as commentators for both hurling and football games.

Analysis will be covered by Jamesie O’Connor and Nicky English in hurling, and Peter Canavan and Paul Earley in football - all former players.

Sky secured the rights to 20 games in the coming season, beginning on June 7 with Kilkenny v Offaly in hurling.

Bookmaker Paddy Power was forced to suspend betting on the main anchor position in March as Rachel Wyse became the clear favourite, with a string of large bets.

"Over the years I’ve presented on a number of different shows on Sky Sports but I’m particularly excited to showcase the talent of GAA players both to those who know the game and to a new audience," Wyse said.

Her co-host, Carney, is a dual-code rugby player - both League and Union - who was capped four times for Ireland and also played for Munster.
