Ryan to line out for Dublin hurlers

Shane Ryan will line out for the Dublin Senior hurlers for the first time this Sunday, since his decision to quit the Blues' Senior football panel last October.

The Naomh Mearnog clubman is a part of Anthony Daly's side which will face the Dubs Stars in the Annual challenge game which takes place in Fingallian's this weekend (2pm).

It is the primary school teacher's first senior hurling game with the Metropolitans in eight years.

The 31-year-old will line out at centre-half-forward in an attack which also includes David Curtain, St Mark's duo John Kelly and David 'Dotsy' O'Callaghan; David Treacy and Peadar Carton.

Reigning Dublin SHC champions Ballyboden St. Enda's are heavily represented on the Dubs stars side, with eight players named on the starting line-up.

Gary Maguire is named between the posts, with James Duffy, Stephen Perkins, Wexford's Malachy Travers, and Darragh Spain part of the Dubs Stars defence.

Shane Durkin partners Craobh Chiarain's Alan McCrabbe at midfield, with David Sweeney and Paul Ryan named in a formidable attack, which also includes key player Liam Rushe.

The game will be followed by a senior football challenge between Dublin and the Dubs Stars at 4pm.

GAA President Christy Cooney will be present for the games, which will also see the Cork native officially opening the new facilities at Lawless park at 3.30pm.
