Rose on the rise in rankings

Rose on the rise in rankings

Justin Rose has replaced Sergio Garcia as Europe’s only member of the world’s top 10 – and he would have leapt to a career-best third if he had won the Memorial tournament rather than finishing joint second.

Last year’s Order of Merit winner moves up from 11th to sixth in the week that sees Colin Montgomerie fall out of the top 100 for the first time since 1990.

Montgomerie, only 58th in the Wales Open, slides from 95th to 102nd, just two places ahead of Darren Clarke, whose fourth place at Celtic Manor maintains his climb through the rankings after being outside the top 200 at the start of the year.
