Rio Olympics Day 4 - Irish competitors in action today

Boxing, rowing, swimming, sailing, eventing and hockey - there is plenty of Irish involvement in Rio today. Here are the times our team are in action.

Rowing

Sanita Suspere came second in her Women's Single Sculls heat on Saturday to book her place in today’s quarter-final - underway at 1.10pm.

Eventing

After an action-packed day yesterday in the cross country, the three-day eventing team resume from eighth overall at 2pm.

Hockey

The men’s hockey team have had a rough start to their Olympic campaign, narrowly defeated by India in their opening game and then losing to the Netherlands.

They will look to turn things round in their third game at 4.30 this evening - although they face tough opposition in champions Germany

Sailing

Sailor Annalise Murphy resumes from third position in the laser radial class today at 5.05pm. Carlow's Finn Lynch is also back on the water after 5 and he's in 21st overall.

Swimming

Two swimmers in action today. First up is Shane Ryan in the 100m Freestyle heats at 5.02pm, then Nicholas Quinn competes in the 200m Breaststroke heats at 5.50pm.

Boxing

After the shock defeat of Paddy Barnes yesterday, the Irish boxers could do with a boost. David Oliver Joyce will hope to do just that when he fights in the men’s light (60kg) round of 16 at 9pm.
