Prendergast planning Polly bid

Kevin Prendergast is likely to be double-handed as he goes in search of third victory in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

Prendergast has won the race with Polaire in 1999 and Rebelline two years later and has two fillies to go to war with this year in Marjalina and Beach Bunny.

Marjalina appeared a top-class prospect earlier in the season after she won a Group Three on her reappearance.

However, she disappointed badly in the Blue Wind Stakes but there was a valid excuse for that lacklustre run while Beach Bunny is steadily improving.

“She was in season when she ran in the Blue Wind last time,” said Prendergast of Marjalina.

“We are hoping that she runs well and we also run Beach Bunny.

“She ran a good race at Cork last time when she dead-heated for second in a Group Three.

“I think a mile and a quarter will probably suit her better than 12 furlongs. She’s improving as she goes.

“Marjalina handled the soft ground when she ran first time this season and she handles an ease in it.

“We’ve been happy with how she has been working lately. She’s back to what she was in the spring.”
