Pogatetz back for Boro

Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz returns to the squad for Sunday’s Barclays Premiership trip to West Brom after missing last night’s 1-0 UEFA Cup defeat by Stuttgart through suspension.

Manager Steve McClaren has no fresh injury worries and has 18-goal leading scorer Aiyegbeni Yakubu fresh after playing just the last few minutes against the Germans as a substitute.

Fabio Rochemback is out for eight to 10 weeks with ankle ligament damage and James Morrison continues his recovery from a hip problem.

Provisional squad: Schwarzer, Jones, Parnaby, Davies, Queudrue, Pogatetz, Bates, Southgate, Riggott, Ehiogu, Boateng, Mendieta, Downing, Doriva, Johnson, Cattermole, Kennedy, Yakubu, Hasselbaink, Viduka, Maccarone.
