Munster prop James Cronin has been called up to the Ireland Six Nations squad.

Cronin will replace fellow Munster man Dave Kilcoyne who suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s Champions Cup victory over Castres.

Munster won the game by a convincing 48-3 scoreline to secure a home quarter-final against Toulon, with Kilcoyne’s injury the only disappointment on the day.

Kilcoyne will remain in the province where the injury is being reviewed by the medical team.

Cronin made his Ireland debut in 2014 on the summer tour to Argentina and has three caps in total having picked up further appearances in the 2015 and 2016 Six Nations.

The Ireland squad is currently in Spain, having flown to Oliva Nova on Monday for a training camp.

Ireland boss Joe Schmidt named his 36-man squad last week, with Leinster star Jordan Larmour earning his first call-up.

Ireland take on France in their opening game in Paris on February 3, followed by a clash against Italy in the Aviva Stadium.
