It has emerged that Charlie Mulgrew and Declan Bonner, who are set to be ratified as the new Donegal senior football management this Wednesday, may not assume their new roles.
Sources close to the duo tonight sensationally indicated they may be set to withdraw their involvement.
It has emerged that the duo are seriously considering cutting their ties as successors to Brian McIver, after last week it was revealed that the pair were not the first candidates to be offered the position.
Mulgrew and Bonner were only approached by Donegal County Board officials to take over the running of the senior football panel, after first choice candidate John Joe Doherty had been previously been offered the position.
Interviews concluded last Wednesday night with Jim McGuinness, Francie Martin and former St. Eunan's and Glenfin manager Mickey Houston also in the running.
The Donegal footballers tasted National League glory under McIver last year but failed to build on this and were heavily beaten by Tyrone in the Ulster championship, and championship success also eluded them last summer.
