Morinqua is to be tested over six furlongs on Saturday following her victory over the minimum trip at Bath last week.
The four-year-old opened her Listed account at the Somerset track and a good run in the totetentofollow.co.uk Kilvington Fillies’ Stakes at Nottingham would open up more races for her.
“What we are quite keen to do is to see if she stays six furlongs,” said trainer James Given.
“I know she’s got a penalty for her win last week, but it will give us an indication if she can be competitive at that distance.
“Having won a Listed race the step up is a Group race. There are no Group Three fillies’ only races over five furlongs, but there are over six.
“If she stays the six at Nottingham, we have a fighting chance of stepping up for those fillies’ only contests. And we hope they would be less difficult than taking on horses like Sakhee’s Secret.”
In the meantime, Given is keeping his options open having entered Morinqua for the Group Two Temple Stakes over five furlongs at Haydock on May 24.
