McClean starts for Black Cats

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill handed winger James McClean his first start in four games as he replaced injured skipper Lee Cattermole for the Barclays Premier League trip to Norwich.

Cattermole suffered a knee injury during the early stages of the 0-0 midweek draw with QPR and could be missing for two months.

Norwich boss Chris Hughton kept faith in the team who drew 1-1 at Southampton on Wednesday night with Mark Bunn continuing in goal in the absence of the injured John Ruddy.

Norwich: Bunn, Whittaker, Bassong, Ryan Bennett, Garrido, Snodgrass, Tettey, Johnson, Pilkington, Hoolahan, Holt.

Subs: Rudd, Martin, Howson, Jackson, Morison, Elliott Bennett, Barnett.
