McCarthy through to semi-finals of 800m

Irish athlete David McCarthy has qualified for the semi-finals of the Men’s 800m at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona today.

McCarthy finished outside an automatic qualifying place in the top four of his heat, finishing fifth in Heat 1 this afternoon.

However, his time of one minute 49.53 seconds was enough to see him through.
