McCarthy may be back for Rovers

Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy could return to the squad for their final match of the Barclays Premier League season at Birmingham on Sunday.

The South Africa international, who has scored 11 goals this season, has missed the last two matches with a hamstring injury.

Christopher Samba showed no ill-effects from a previous thigh problem as he managed 90 minutes in last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Derby and should continue in central defence.

Provisional squad: Friedel, Reid, Nelsen, Samba, Ooijer, Warnock, Bentley, Emerton, Vogel, Pedersen, Santa Cruz, Roberts, Dunn, Brown, Tugay, Derbyshire, McCarthy, Mokoena, Khizanishvili.
