Striker Obafemi Martins will return to the Newcastle squad for tomorrow night’s Carling Cup third-round clash with Tottenham.

The Nigeria international has missed the last four games with a groin problem but is now fit enough to resume.

Danny Guthrie and Joey Barton are suspended, while Mark Viduka and Habib Beye (both Achilles), Jonas Gutierrez (shoulder) and Jose Enrique are still missing.

Provisional squad: Given, Harper, Edgar, N’Zogbia, Taylor, Coloccini, Cacapa, Bassong, Tozer, Butt, Geremi, Duff, Gonzalez, Donninger, Owen, Xisco, Martins, Ameobi, Donaldson, Ranger, Danquah.
