Marnane mulls Groom options

David Marnane has revealed offers are under consideration for Boom The Groom following the youngster’s most impressive racecourse debut at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

The Kodiac colt made virtually every yard of the running under Pat Smullen in the six-furlong juvenile maiden, winning with plenty in hand as he passed the post a length and a quarter to the good over the experienced Colour Blue.

Boom The Groom does not hold any entries at this stage and the first decision his connections need to make is whether to hold onto the exciting colt, or let him make a big-money move elsewhere.

Marnane said: “I was impressed with how he did it on the day, but he’s a developing horse and I’m in no rush with him.

“He’d be showing us a lot at home and I was surprised how big a price (10-1) he was, to be honest.

“He did it well and he’s definitely not just an early two-year-old. I think he’ll improve a lot for the run and even though he has plenty of pace, he should get further.

“We have had a few offers for him since the race, so we’ll mull those over and go from there.”
