Leicester abandoned

This afternoon's meeting at Leicester has been abandoned following a second inspection at 10.45am.

Clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson initially checked conditions at 8am but decided to give the course time to improve in the hope temperatures would rise.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case and officials have been left with little option but to call off proceedings.

"We've had to abandon I'm afraid as we are still frozen in places," said Stevenson.

"It's still only zero degrees now and we still have cloud cover, so the sun isn't getting through."
