Lee handed l'Aventure ride

Graham Lee has picked up the plum ride on L’Aventure in Saturday’s Red Square Vodka Gold Cup at Haydock.

The Paul Nicholls-trained mare was partnered by Leighton Aspell when she won the Welsh National on her last start but with that jockey heading to Lingfield, Lee is set to team up with the seven-year-old.

Lee had been expected to ride Tyneandthyneagain for retained trainer Howard Johnson but the County Durham handler has made alternative arrangements.

Trainer’s wife Sue Johnson said: “Tyneandthyneagain definitely runs at Haydock and Peter Buchanan will ride him.

“Howard has allowed Graham off to ride for Mr Nicholls in that race out of the goodness of his heart – he must be getting soft in his old age!”
