Henrietta Knight is eyeing possible dates at Warwick and Exeter for her leading Arkle Challenge Trophy hope Racing Demon.
The six-year-old missed an intended engagement at Chepstow when the meeting was abandoned but Knight is still keen to get a run into her stable star before next month’s Cheltenham Festival.
Racing Demon will be entered for both the South-West Racing Club Novices’ Chase at Exeter and the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase at Warwick with the former being the first choice of engagement.
Knight told the Racing Post: “I don’t really want to wait for Wincanton on Saturday week as it takes us a step closer to Cheltenham, and, in any event, I like Exeter and Racing Demon did win his first race over fences there in November.
“But, with an uncertain forecast, it makes sense to cover our backs so we will also put him in the more valuable Kingmaker, though I’d rather not get into a battle royal with the big boys, at least not until Cheltenham.”
