Keane tipped for Ireland assistant manager

It has been reported that Roy Keane is due to become the new Ireland assistant manager.

It is expected that Keane will join part of Martin O'Neill's backroom team.

The FAI is due to make a formal announcement next week.

Former Ireland manager Mick McCarthy was thought to be O'Neill's main rival for the job.

However, speaking last night the Ipswich manager appeared to concede that he would not be returning.
