Johnson returns for City

Michael Johnson is back in the Manchester City squad following a groin injury and will play a part in the Carling Cup second-round tie at Brighton.

However, midfielder Martin Petrov remains sidelined with a similar problem and although Nedum Onuoha has resumed training after a knee injury, tomorrow’s game on the south coast will come too soon for him.

Brazil international striker Robinho will not be involved as he is currently involved in resettling his family in this country.

Provisional squad: Hart, Zabaleta, Richards, Dunne, Ball, Ben Haim, Johnson, Ireland, Kompany, Wright-Phillips, Elano, Jo, Garrido, Schmeichel, Fernandes, Hamann, Evans, Sturridge, Etuhu, Glauber.
