Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura has been identified as a summer target by Italian side Bologna.
The 30-year-old Japan international joined Celtic from Reggina in 2005 and has a year remaining on his contract at Parkhead.
Bologna club president Alfredo Cazzola claims to have made a bid for Nakamura.
Cazzola said in the Daily Record: “We have already formalised our offer to Celtic, so they know the conditions of the proposed transfer.
“We are waiting to hear back from Celtic about the offer once they’ve discussed it with the player.
“We hope they’ll give us permission to speak to Nakamura.”
Nakamura has inspired Celtic to three successive Scottish Premier League titles since arriving in Scotland in 2005 and has also been linked with a return to Japanese football, with J.League side Yokohama F Marinos.
