Ireland's cricketers head down under for the World Cup

The ICC Cricket World Cup takes place in Australia and New Zealand next month and Ireland's cricketers left today for a training camp in Sydney ahead of the tournament.

Ireland have proved themselves giant killers in past World Cups, with big wins over Pakistan in 2007 and England in 2011.

Ireland are in Group B along with South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies, Zimbabwe and United Arab Emirates and face the West Indies in their opening match on February 16.

Best of luck lads!

Breakingnews.ie will be following the team’s progress throughout the World Cup and will bring you interviews with players and coach Phil Simmons in the week running up to the tournament.
