Hoey in Portugal play-off

Ireland’s Michael Hoey and Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano are in a play-off for the Estoril Portuguese Open title at Oitavos Dunes.

Former British amateur champion Hoey, seeking his first European Tour win, came from 19th place and five strokes back to set the clubhouse target of seven under par with a joint best-of-the-day 66 in the windy conditions.

Reigning British Masters champion Fernandez-Castano matched it with a 67, getting up and down from short of the green at the last.
