Harrington three off the lead after shaky Dunhill start

Padraig Harrington's staged a remarkable recovery on day one of the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.

Slumping to level par after 12 holes, the Dubliner's now finished up back in the clubhouse on five-under-par with a 67, good enough to put him three strokes off the lead.

Harrington's bidding for third Dunhill title to help him secure the European Order of Merit this weekend.

Fellow Ryder Cup star Graeme McDowell finished next best of the Irish on four-under after carding 68.

England's Ross Fisher and Dane Soren Hansen hold the clubhouse lead on eight-under-par.

Peter Lawrie finished two-under, Damien McGrane one-under, and Darren Clarke level-par.

Paul McGinley shot 73 for one-over-par.
