Green light for Kelso

This afternoon’s Kelso’s fixture, featuring the appearance of leading Champion Hurdle hope Zaynar, has been given the go-ahead following a second inspection.

An initial inspection at 7am found the track to be unraceable following a frost overnight, when temperatures dipped to minus 3C.

However, conditions have improved enough for the meeting to be given the green light.

“The sun is breaking through and the white is going off the grass,” said clerk of the course Anthea Morshead.

“We had a look with course inspector Chris Dennis who is very happy with it, so racing goes ahead.”

Zaynar is due to have his final run before the Cheltenham Festival in the Victor Chandler Morebattle Hurdle, scheduled for 3.20pm.
