Goalie saves penalty after advice from ballboy

A 12-year-old Australian ballboy has been christened China’s lucky charm - after helping their goalie save a penalty in the Asian Cup.

There was no score in the match between China and Saudi Arabia on Saturday when Saudi Arabia were awarded a penalty in the second half.

Chinese goalkeeper Wang Dalei decided to ask nearby ballboy Stephen White for advice and the youngster indicated that he should dive to the left.

Dalei followed the lad’s instructions and saved easily.

China went on to win the match 1-0 and Stephen was rewarded with an invitation to attend a Chinese team training session.
