Given confirms Villa exit

Shay Given has confirmed that he will leave Aston Villa over the summer.

According to The Herald, the former Republic of Ireland international will leave in search of first team football, despite having a year left on his contract.

"Last night I had a meeting with manager Paul Lambert and we both agreed that I should be playing first-team football.

"And that's not happening at Villa right now," Given said.

The 37-year-old has been replaced as first choice keeper this year by Brad Guzan.
