Gibraltar slipped to their ninth successive defeat in Euro 2016 qualifying Group D, and conceded their 50th goal in the process, as Georgia eased to a 4-0 victory in Tblisi.
Having weathered periods of sustained pressure, the minnows fell behind on the half-hour when Mate Vatsadze slotted home after latching on to Tornike Okriashvili’s defence-splitting pass.
The provider turned goalscorer five minutes later, with Okriashvili, who scored in the 3-0 reverse 12 months ago, slamming home from the penalty spot after Anthony Bardon was adjudged to have handled in the area.
Vatsadze headed home at the back post from Aleksandre Kobakhidze’s looping cross on the stroke of half-time, while Valeri Kazaishvili’s excellent solo goal added gloss to the result in the 87th minute, ensuring Gibraltar have now shipped 50 goals in nine matches.
Georgia, whose hopes of qualifying for the championships were already over, remain fifth in the group.
