The Garda Press Office has confirmed that they are aware of an image posted on the Instagram account of Conor McGregor, but would not comment on reports that they were investigating the matter further.
The image was posted on the UFC star’s account on Thursday, though the man pictured is not identified.
This image was captioned: “Put the fight game in the bag and step away from the vehicle.”
The Crumlin fighter has previously posed with imitation guns and weapons. Last week he posted a picture of himself on his Instagram account, aiming an imitation firearm at the camera captioned with the line: “You don't want to be in a room if this goes off.”
If reports this morning are correct, McGregor will soon have a lot less time for social media.
He could be back in the octagon in as little as eight weeks, with reports suggesting he will take on Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title as part of UFC197 in Las Vegas on March 5.
