Footballers may be drawn into Cork GAA dispute

Speculation is mounting that Cork's footballers may be sucked into the dispute surrounding the reappointment of Gerald McCarthy as manager of the county's hurlers.

The hurlers are apparently threatening to retire en masse in protest at the reappointment, while McCarthy is refusing to stand down.

Cork's hurlers were united with the Rebel footballers last year over the appointment of Teddy Holland and are understood to expect their county colleagues to down tools in the event of a new strike.
