Ferguson facing Rooney dilemma

Alex Ferguson must decide whether to let Wayne Rooney run the gauntlet of hate at Goodison Park tomorrow.

Rooney is due to face former club Everton after a difficult week following the allegations about his private life.

Rio Ferdinand could make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a knee injury, while the fitness of Javier Hernandez and Antonio Valencia will need to be assessed after their late return from international duty.

Michael Carrick has been ruled out for three weeks with an Achilles injury.
