Farren hits winner for Derry

Derry City 1 Cobh Ramblers 0

Mark Farren missed a sitter and then hit the winner as Derry secured a first victory in six games.

Farren looked set to score from Niall McGinn's cross inside the first minute, but somehow shot wide from four yards out.

The striker made amends five minutes into the second half, though, when getting on the end of Eddie McCallion's cross to head home what proved the only goal.

Despite having John Meade sent off for a foul on Farren, his second booking, Cobh didn't lie down and John Kearney had a goal disallowed late on.
