Famous Name returns to winning ways

Famous Name bounced back to winning form in the Jockey Club of Turkey Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown.

Weld’s three-year-old was just touched off in the French Derby earlier in the season but has been slightly disappointing on his last two starts.

But fitted with first-time blinkers, the 11-10 favourite coasted to a two-and-a-half-length victory over Poet to give Smullen another valuable winner in his quest for the jockeys’ title.

He now has 83 victories, four more than Berry, with Johnny Murtagh back on 77.
