Club tat: The best and worst football club shop items of 2016

Football clubs are notorious for cashing in at every move, branding everything they can get their hands on and selling it at a premium.

In an age where stars can rake in £300,000 per week, perhaps it’s understandable.

But, we can’t help but feel some of these are a tad overboard.

Press Association chief football writer Simon Peach has collated the best kitsch from his travels in 2016, and there are strong contenders for the tattiest tat.

Our personal favourites include an AC Milan bingo ball sorter, a St Etienne watering can, an Olympiakos moses basket and a Boca Juniors thong.

Take a look at some of these absolute specimens.

An accessory for the ages

A gorgeous Rosicky cushion

Moses wept

A crime to the eyes

Spur of the moment purchase

Eau de Ranieri

Fetching and fierce

But, despite other great efforts, St Etienne seems to have won the kitsch crown with its stunning array of branded goods.

Credit must go to both the pruning shears and the, er, muesli.

When the weeds look like making it in the top four

Most important meal of the day

Bingo.

If children are confident in interacting with others it takes away so much stress and social anxiety for them. Not too long ago, my daughter Joan and I were out with friends at a restaurant and we wanted extra water and a few other bits and Joan volunteered to go up and ask the waiter for them.
