CJ Stander’s leadership qualities shown by ‘player mic’ during win over Edinburgh

The rousing words of Munster captain CJ Stander were captured on video this weekend as Munster earned a bonus point victory over Edinburgh, writes Stephen Barry.

The South African-born number 8 provides tactical nous and dynamic ball-carrying ability to the Munster pack, and his hunger for possession comes across in the Sky Sports video.

The first-half highlights include Stander giving a pep talk to Jack O’Donoghue, encouraging him to exploit the weakness of his opposite number Hamish Watson.

“Jack, that seven, he's got nothing,” says Stander. “He doesn't want to tackle you. He just wants to go for the ball. Run at him.”

Stander is also shown checking on an injured O’Donoghue, offering a support line to Ian Keatley and, in the second-half clip, shouting instructions during a scrum.

But it’s his guttural ‘Yeaaaah’ roar which will be ringing in our ears for days to come!
