Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Croatian teenager Mario Pasalic.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been signed from Croatian side Hajduk Split where he has been an academy player since 2006. He had 11 goals and 5 assists in 2013-2014, his first full season with the senior squad.

Speaking to Chelseafc.com Pasalic said:

“I am very happy because I am now a Chelsea player. I am very impressed by the training ground and I must thank everybody at Hajduk. This is now a new start in my career.”

“I am a central midfielder, my favourite player is Frank Lampard and so I am very happy to be a Chelsea player.”

Although he only signed today the transfer to Chelsea had been widely reported earlier in the year.

Chelsea are having their first pre-season training session this afternoon and Pasalic is expected to take part.
