Boro and Bhoys go live

Middlesbrough’s pre-season clash with Celtic in Portugal will be shown live on television.

Boro will meet the Scottish champions in the Algarve Challenge Cup in Faro on Tuesday July 22, kick-off 9.30pm local time, with Setanta Sports screening the match.

Manager Gareth Southgate told his club’s official website, www.mfc.co.uk: “Celtic will bring possibly 10,000 fans with them.

“With them having won the league, it’s going to be a quite an occasion and a big test for us.”

Boro will face Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimares two days later as part of a four-team tournament, which also includes beaten FA Cup finalists Cardiff.
