Bernard Brogan welcomes the nerves ahead of All-Ireland final

As the All-Ireland weekend beckons, Bernard Brogan is ready to embrace the pre-match nerves ahead of Dublin’s titanic clash with Mayo this Sunday.

With three All-Ireland medals to his name, Brogan is no stranger to the pressures of the game.

Speaking to Red Bull.COM, Brogan recalls advice given to him by pro golfer, Padraig Harrington.

“He told us that we should welcome the nerves because they show us that we care, it’s all about using those nerves positively…I try to embrace them and put them to use in a positive way by thinking about what I am going to do in the game ahead”

Brogan knows that determination, dedication and skill will be at the core of Dublin’s success this Sunday.

The veteran footballer recalls other guidance given to him by former Dublin player and teammate, Jason Sherlock:

“He told me that I should write down three simple things that I wanted to do in a game. They shouldn’t be too easy but they should be attainable things that you can do early in the game…Come half time you will get a great sense of positivity and a boost of confidence when you realise you have achieved all three”.

Brogans self-belief coupled with hours of training have shaped him into one of the stalwarts of Dublin football.

However, experience must be matched with preparation and routine in order to achieve excellence on the pitch. Bernard has now documented some of the core techniques he uses on the pitch in a unique GAA skills video. You can check out the video at RedBull.COM
