Benin international faces fitness test for Sligo

Sligo Rovers will maintain their push for a European spot when they take on Sporting Fingal at the Showgrounds tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Romauld Boco will undergo a late fitness test for Sligo. The Benin international picked up a quad injury on international duty last weekend so he will be assessed closer to kick-off.

Gary McCabe (hamstring) and John Dillon (lower back) are also doubts for the Bit o' Red.

Mauro Almeida and Richard Brush will not play again this season because of injury.

Rovers are looking to end a run of 13 league matches without a win against the top four sides.

Sporting travel to the Showgrounds without Ger O’Brien. The defender is still a week away from a full recovery on the ankle injury suffered against Limerick.

Manager Liam Buckley’s only other fitness concern is Shane McFaul, missing from last week’s scoreless draw against Bohemians with a bruised foot. He will undergo a pre-match fitness test.

Buckley said: “Paul Cook’s Sligo side play a decent brand of football and, like us, always seem to create scoring chances.

“There are eight league games remaining and this game is important for both teams in the context of chasing European qualification spots. Irrespective of the outcome, though, I’ve no doubt there will points dropped by all the teams in the run-in.”
