Bebe in United squad

Bebe is expected to be part of Manchester United’s squad for the first time as the Carling Cup holders begin the defence of their trophy at Scunthorpe.

The 20-year-old did not feature in a reserve team encounter at Bury last night, which indicates the £7m arrival from Vitoria Guimaraes will play some part on United’s first visit to Glanford Park.

Michael Owen and Anderson are both set to make their first competitive starts since February, although Rio Ferdinand is still trying to shake off the virus that kept him out of Sunday’s Premier League win over Liverpool.

Team (from): Kuszczak, Amos, Neville, Rafael, Brown, Ferdinand, Smalling, De Laet, Dudgeon, Anderson, Park, Obertan, Gibson, W Keane, C Evans, Eikrem, Owen, Hernandez, Macheda, Bebe.
