Barrett joins Drogheda

Shane Barrett will join Drogheda United from Longford Town this morning.

The 24-year-old will undergo a medical at United Park before put ting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Drogheda have been tracking Barrett all winter and had a €30,000 bid rejected last week before their improved off – believed to be €50,000 – was accepted by the Longford board.

Barrett said: “This was the last chance I was going to get to go full-time so I felt it was worth taking that opportunity.”
