And what a feast it is. From possible European gold medals to deciding who will face Kilkenny in this year’s All-Ireland SHC final - hopes are high for some gripping encounters.
Sitting comfortably? Let’s begin.

International of the weekend
It may be only a warm-up game, but for the team Joe Schmidt has chosen to face Scotland in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday this is the opportunity to stake a claim for a World Cup spot.
Chris Henry, Gordon D’Arcy and Isaac Boss will all be hoping for big games to put them uppermost in the Kiwi’s thoughts come selection time.
Breakingnews.ie head sports reporter Shaun Cronin talks to Irish Examiner journalist Brendan O’Brien about the team selection.

Final major of the year
Plenty of Irish interest in the USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits this year. It’s Rory McIlroy’s first tournament back in action since damaging ankle ligaments in July and Shane Lowry has moved to 19th in the world following his win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Here’s hoping the Irish contingent are still in contention come Sunday night.
