Airtricity League round-up: David McMillan’s double helps Dundalk extend their lead

Dundalk have extended their lead at the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division.

The defending champions produced a much-improved second-half performance to defeat a battling Galway United 2-1.

David McMillan got both of the goals for Stephen Kenny's side in the final 20 minutes before Eric Foley grabbed a consolation for Galway in injury-time.

Derry City are back up to second place, but they're five points behind the league leaders.

Barry McNamee's volley in the 63rd minute was enough for the Candystripes to claim a 1-0 win over their hosts, St Pat's, at Richmond Park.

Tonight's other Premier Division game finished in a scoreless draw between Finn Harps and Bohemians - but only after Anto Murphy missed a penalty for Bohs in stoppage time.

In the First Division, Philly Gorman scored a brace as Waterford United were 3-1 winners over UCD at the RSC.

Meanwhile Drogheda United recovered from conceding an early goal away from home to beat their hosts Athlone Town 2-1.
