100-year-old football fan gets her own birthday chant on the terraces

Mabel Arnold proved her footballing enthusiasm at the weekend when she rang in her hundredth birthday at the Boleyn Ground.

She is a lifelong West Ham supporter, having been a season ticket holder for the last 82 years.

The club rewarded her devotion by presenting her with a special jersey when she attended their Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

Mabel had her priorities in order, telling the club’s social media team: "I'd rather have three points than a telegram from HM The Queen!"

Unfortunately she had to settle for one point, after the Hammers played out a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

But her fellow fans still made sure her milestone birthday was celebrated - even creating a chant especially for the centenarian.

Mabel has long been a club favourite - West Ham included an interview with her in their online Advent calendar back in 2013.
