From funky prints and ultra cool furniture design, to a sun-kissed snuggle chair, Esther N McCarthy has a heap of inspiring ideas for you this week.
Can you ever have enough cushions? We all know the answer to that one, right? I love this lifestyle image of Missoni cushions, in a variety of fabrics, textures, and prints, everything from jacquard to silky velvet. See more at www.missonihome.com.
Cosy in for movie night with this Nido snuggle chair, seen here in a romantic rust shade. It's from Des Kelly interiors and it's €979. See www.deskelly.ie/ for stockists and more info.
This stunning design is by Laois creative, Alan Meredith, who says his “work seeks to reconcile between the process of making and the generation of form”. He uses steam to bend the wood, allowing him to generate new and elaborate forms.
Alan won a Royal Dublin Society Craft Awards bursary in 2018 and was Design & Crafts Council of Ireland Future Maker of the year 2017. For more, see www.alanmeredith.ie.
Calor has launched BioLPG, a renewable gas for ‘cleaner, greener grilling’. Good news for BBQ fans who want to do their bit for the environment. According to Calor’s research, the growing trend of environmentally conscious consumption is prevalent when it comes to how people in Ireland barbecue.
Insights show that almost half of all adults (49%) would be more likely to barbecue more frequently with cleaner renewable fuel, with this rising to three quarters (72%) amongst those aged 18-24, so fair play to the ‘Generation Z’ crowd, let the young ones do the cooking, I say. More info at www.calorgas.ie/biolpg.
Michelle O’Donnell, originally from Donegal, is an artist who specialises in the production of bespoke glass art.
Working out of her studio in Co Offaly, she says her personal work is inspired by the textures and layers in the Irish landscape, developing art forms to create a sense of movement energy and freedom.
Her work is in the White House Art Collection USA, Queen Elizabeth personal Art Collection, and AIB Art collection. Pictured here on the left, is a piece entitled ‘Precious’. For more, check out www.glasshammer.ie.
Argos have some super cute children’s bedroom set-up at the moment. We love this tent-style bed frame and modular furniture combo. See www.argos.ie for more ideas.
Our On The Bathroom Shelf slot this week is for all you guys and gals who love the bronzed look but don’t really want to get the whole sun-damaged vibe while you’re at it.
This Arbonne Liquid Sunshine tinted self-tanner adds a touch of bronze instantly while developing a tan within 2 hours.
We loved the quick-drying formula and there was no residue or streaking when we tried it out.
Plus, it’s allergy and dermatologist tested, gluten-free and vegan. Arbonne is online only and they ship worldwide. We spotted it on eBay for €34.44.
My online pick this week is this jazzy jungle print, handmade by Jen Jeng Bluth. It’s a fun statement piece of wall art from her original sketches. The size is 30cm by 30 cm and it costs €26 — but that doesn’t include the frame pictured here.
