Not  a stone nor a sod has been left unturned at this expansive family home Moneen, at Cork’s Kilnaglory, just south of Ballincollig and the ‘access all areas’ N40.

The tall and broad detached house has a very hospitable ground level floor plan and rooms for the largest of families, plus four-five bedrooms.

There are gardens and grounds, almost a lifelong labour of love, laid out in sections and themes and on two tiers, running to a full acre of space for all ages.

And, now, the 2,600 sq ft home is up for sale, ready to accommodate new occupants, and it’s priced at €670,000 by auctioneer Norma Healy of Sherry FitzGerald, who says it’s a very short drive west of the city, closer to Ballincollig.

It has four first floor bedrooms, master en suite, and the main bathroom has extensive tiling, bidet, and a steam shower and Jacuzzi bath.

This level also has a T-shaped landing, and side attic eaves storage.

There’s even more down at ground level, with two reception rooms with fireplaces, there’s also a family room, and a study, a kitchen/diner with oak units and alongside, overlooking the back garden, a further, more modern day-to-day kitchen has been added on, with cheering, deep red gloss units.

Off the original/older kitchen to the side, meanwhile is a sun room, with solid, high-pitched and wood-clad roof, Veluxes above on either pitch, and it has a stove for year-round comfort.

Yet another bright space has been created across much of the back of Moneen, with a further sun room annex (albeit northerly aspected) with single pitch roof and large Veluxes, and it overlooks the glories of all of the work done in the back garden, patios and terraces, and on its other side is a set of sliding doors, opening back to the more casual of the two reception rooms, which has a parana pine ceiling.

Elsewhere, internal joinery, doors downstairs and the staircase is polished or varnished mahogany, with a pale, porcelain tiled main hall as contrast, and rounding out the full complement of rooms is a guest WC, and and long utility room, nearly 25’ by 10, running out towards the gardens from the back sun room, and creating a shelter screen for sitting out and trapping evening sunlight and warmth.

When viewers eventually make their way out to Moneen’s grounds, there’s nearly as many points to take in.

Moneen is so accommodating, it even has two kitchens, one a modern glossy one, the other’s more traditional, used for dining

The front garden has a expanse of brick-paved drive leading to the house’s part-stone clad exterior and front door, with lots of conifers in large gravelled/easy keep beds.

A side garage, with roller shutter door, helps to screen the bulk of the acre beyond, where there are sandstone paved patios, gravel beds, wending pathway, water features, raised veg and herb beds, a glass house, a garden room, and curvaceous lawns, regularly kept in shape with ride on mower.

The workmanship and input over many years is testament to the owners’ commitment and green fingers, says agent Ms Healy, who also underlines the sheer amount for space for a growing family, so close to the N40.
