He has helped numerous couples blossom on their big day and florist and wedding specialist Peter Tora had no shortage ofexperience in planning his own nuptial celebration with Brendan O’Sullivan, writes Eve Kelliher.
Peter, originally from Bestwina, Poland, is the owner of florist business Scent of Tora in Castletownbere, and he and Brendan, from Urhan, Beara, were wed recently in The Beara Coast Hotel, Castletownbere, by celebrant Norma McElligott.
Brendan’s sister Maura Crowley and Peter’s friend Siobhan O’Shea werewitnesses, while Brendan’s nephew Kevin Crowley was best boy and his nieces Leah and Amy Crowley were grooms-girls.
The couple’s paths first crossed online and they met in Glengarriff. Peter popped the question over a romantic meal in the five-star Muckross Park Hotel inKillarney on May 9, 2018.
The newlyweds describe their wedding as “sensational”. “Family and friends were the biggest part of the day, everyone there was there just for us, celebrating our love,” said Brendan, an operations manager with Abtran in Cork.
Acclaimed wedding photographer Ian CroninIan Cronin captured the big day on camera.
The team at the Beara Coast “could not have done more, with every wish that we had coming true”, added Brendan. “Speeches stirred up some untold stories and our guests were in stitches,” he said.
Brendan’s sister Maura welcomed Peter to the family. “Maura blew it out of the water with her funny stories,” added Brendan.
Maura also spoke of how although Brendan’s mother passed away in June 2018, she “knew Peter was there to take care of her baby”.
The couple chose theirfavourite colour purple as their theme, from suits to dresses to flowers and venue. Brendan and Peter looked dapper in custom-tailored suits by Ryle Menswear in Tralee, Co Kerry, again in purple.
Peter created all the eye-catching floral arrangements.

K Kutz Hair Studio,Castletownbere, took care of the hairstyling and Tanya O’Neill was the makeupartist for Brendan’s sister and nieces. “Both grooms took care of their own hair and makeup!”
Denis McCarthy ofCaptured Occasions ensured the video camera rolled throughout the wedding day.
Hitting all the right notes were wedding singer Anne Linehan and later on, the band Blue Steel.
“Peter’s friend Siobhan gifted us with a hawk and bird show on the day, which went down a treat with everyone,” added Brendan.
He and Peter, who will reside in Urhan, enjoyed a honeymoon in Santorini, Greece.
