Their paths first crossed while they were studying accounting at Cork Institute of Technology and shortly after they graduated Aisling Murphy and Tim Sheahan became an item.
That was eight years ago and Newmarket native Aisling, and Tim, from Glenbeigh, Co Kerry, recently returned to Ireland from Dubai, where they have been living and working for the past four years, to tie the knot.
Tim had popped the question during a weekend trip to Paris as they strolled along the Champs-Élysées.
They were wed in St Mary’s Church, Newmarket, by Fr Francis Manning and held their reception in The Brehon Hotel, Killarney.
Muckross and other scenic spots in Killarney National Park play a starring role also in their wedding album, with leading wedding photographer Ian Cronin capturing the big day on camera.
Helping them toast to their future also were Aisling’s mother and father Imelda and Michael Murphy and Tim’s parents Bridget and Timmy Sheahan.
Lending their support were Aisling’s sisters: Caroline O’Riordan was maid of honour with Deirdre Burke, Ruth Murphy and Christine Murphy as bridesmaids.
Tim’s friend BarryHoulihan was best man while his friends John Foley and Stephen Caulfied and his cousin Joseph Sheahan were groomsmen.
Aisling’s niece and goddaughter Amelia O’Leary was flower girl with her nephew and godson Jamie Lynch as pageboy.
“We didn’t stop smiling from beginning to end of our big day,” said Aisling. “As we live away from home, being able to come back and have all our loved ones in one room was the most amazing feeling. We wouldn’t change a single detail.”
Guests travelled from across the globe to celebrate with the newlyweds.
“It was a day of reunions for many families and friends and nothing made our day more special than having all those people there, for us,” said Aisling.
"They had been performing at a gig in the INEC and it seemed they wanted to continue the party. It was so random and hilarious, everybody loved it. They partied with us ’til the wee hours of the morning.
We also loved having the ‘pub on wheels’, called The Shebeen, for our drinks reception.”
Aisling was picture-perfect in a Pronovias gown she purchased in Dubai and the groom looked dapper in an Armani suit. Hair By Val, Limerick, took care of the bridal hairstyling with makeup by Trisha Harrington from Ballyhoura Beauty in Ardpatrick.
“They both came to my sister Deirdre’s house that morning and were nothing but fun,” said the bride.
LM Videography also captured the big day on film while Garden of Eve, Millstreet, created the floral arrangements.
The newlyweds chose Santorini and Mykonos in Greece for the first stage of their honeymoon and will travel to Japan in October.
Both accountants, they are currently residing in Dubai where they work as finance managers — Aisling in a law firm and Tim in a renewable energy company. “We will spend some more time in Dubai, and when we decide to move home we will settle in Cork,” said Aisling.
