Prepare to kiss 'weather dependent' wardrobe conundrums 'bye-bye', says Annmarie O'Connor.

INSPIRATION

Irish summers are predictably unpredictable.

One moment the sun is shining, the next we’re getting a preview of autumn.

That’s where leather proves its prowess: breathable, pliant and resilient; it moves effortlessly with the body.

What’s more, it always looks fresh; never crumpled or loveworn like fair-weather fabrics (I’m looking at you, linen).

Even its faux friends prove real contenders.

So, the next time you crosscheck your clothing choices against Accuweather, spare a thought for summer leather.

Style notes

  • Pair a leather midi skirt with a crisp white shirt and ‘floss’ kitten heel sandals.

  • Swap that casual leather moto jacket for a wear-with-anything trench.

  • Layer a leather wrap dress (we love Topshop’s olive-green offering) over stovepipe trousers and a fine polo neck come the cooler months.

  • Invest in leather A-line city shorts as a work-appropriate alternative to miniskirts.
