If you’ve been craving some sunshine but can’t get away to a far-flung tropical destination, there’s a new bar where you can get some vitamin D – alongside your cocktail.
The Sol Bar in London is kitted out with light therapy lamps used to combat the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) – a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern, usually affecting people worst in the winter months and thought to be related to a lack of sunlight.
The bright lights of the Sol Bar are designed to mirror the feel-good effects of the sun. Even if you don’t suffer from SAD, many people are thought to lack vitamin D, which is good for you in many ways – including for maintaining healthy bones and teeth, supporting the immune system, and helping regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body.
Open until Saturday, October 26, visitors will received a free drink on arrival.
