Gardening Notes: Your one-stop guide to the week's events

A guide to what's on in gardening...

1. Cork Flower Club presents a gala Christmas demonstration “Inspired by Christmas” with James Burnside NAFAS on Tuesday, November 19, at Canon Packham Hall, Douglas Cork, at 8pm. Supporting Pieta House. Admission €15 including supper.

2. Macroom Flower & Garden Club hosts a gala floral demonstration with Margaret Collins AOIFA (Carlow) on Thursday, November 14, at Coolcower House at 8pm (doors open 7pm). Event is supporting Macroom Community Hospital. Tickets and further information 087-982 1708.

3. Glenville Flower & Garden Club will host John Beausang, Citizens Information Service, with a talk on health, welfare and community services in Kades Kounty on Tuesday, October 29, at 8.30pm. All welcome.

4. Ballincollig Flower & Garden Club hosts a gala Christmas demonstration by John Paul Deehan NIGFAS on Monday, November 11, at Oriel House Hotel supporting Pieta House and Breakthrough Cancer Research. Tickets €15. Contact 087-226 5954.


5. National Learning Network in Bantry hosts a gardening workshop on Tuesday, October 22, with Klaus Leitenberger, with practical demonstrations on winter garden jobs. 10am-4pm; Cost €40 per person (€20 unwaged). Contact 087-602 3183.

6. Cobh Flower and Horticulture Club will hold its next meeting in Cobh Community Centre on Monday, November 4, at 7.30pm. Floral demonstrations by club members.

7. Children’s creative pottery workshop takes place at Hydro Farm Allotments, Cork, on Saturday, November 2, from 2.30-3pm (Registration 1.45 sharp). €40 per child (4+ years old). This includes classes, clay, decorations and firing. Duration for this term four weeks.

8. Adult creative hands on pottery classes also take place on Monday November 4, from 7-9pm. Term four weeks €60. Included: Techniques in building creative pieces, clay, decorations, and firing. To pre book both, call Karina 087 1486403.
